This is a companion page for a layout I previously made using Simple Stories' So Happy Together line.  LOVE these papers and their cooridinating Bits & Pieces die cuts!  Photo is of my parents on their 40th wedding anniversary in 1996.  Journaling is on the coordinating layout.!

Scrap Our Stash January Sketch Challenge

I played along with the January sketch challenge over at Scrap Our Stash, what a fun sketch to work with!
The requirements with the sketch are to use chevron patterned paper and gold embellishment(s).  I used several different lines of Jillibean Soup papers (love how they coordinate so well!) and one of them was a chevron patterned I used for a couple of my half circles.  For the gold embellishments I used some AC Thickers gold plus signs & a tiny little dot I placed on the alligator's bow tie :)
This was a really fun challenge, always love playing along at Scrap Our Stash!

Scrappy Friends January 2020 challenge

Hi everybody! I participated in the Scrappy Friends challenge again this month & just LOVED using the sketch by Rochelle Spears!  Here's the sketch:
And here's my take on it:
I chose a photo of my older brother and myself taken at his house last November.  It was the first time I got to see him since he completed chemo and it was such a special visit! I had to capture it on a layout to remember how happy I was to be with him that day.  I used some CTMH papers with a Simple Stories graph background paper (my fave!).  I used the phrase on the leaf "Together Time" for my title.

For the second part of the Scrappy Friends challenge I used Scrap With Stacy's Tic Tac Toe board and used the center row: Circle, Banner and Stamping (I stamped the date with a roller stamp & also stamped the phrase "Remember This" on the wood banner at the top.
Thanks for stopping by!

Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #162

Hi everyone! There's a brand new card sketch up on the Sketch N Scrap blog that's sure to inspire you to create:
What a fantastic sketch that Lisa Hidy designed, I love the layers!  Here's my take on it:
While in the middle of working on a layout using the adorable Jillibean Soup collection Farmhouse Stew, I decided to stop and use some of the pink wood grain scraps to create this card.  I recently won a gift certificate for Dies R Us and one of my purchases was a set of stitched rectangle nesting dies.  I thought that would be perfect for the section of the sketch under the banner.  I also got the cutest little Lawn Fawn stamp set with birthday sentiments and used one of them on the banner, a scrap of MME gray wood grain. On the white layer I used a CTMH quilted circles embossing folder.  The die cuts are also from the Farmhouse Stew collection and I finished it off with some twine around the jar & some white gelly pen outlining.

Come on over to Sketch N Scrap and join in on the fun by showing us what you can do with this sketch! Hope to see you there!

Sketch N Scrap Layout #193 and Scrap Our Stash Bingo

Happy New Year everyone!!  Today I'm sharing a layout with you using a new layout sketch revealed on the Sketch N Scrap blog today:
Here's the sketch I used, designed by Heather Hall.   If your goal is to start 2020 off with a creative bang, then this sketch is sure to get your inspiration flowing!
So right off the start I have to admit, I normally shy away from circles.  I'll use one here and there, mostly as a base of a cluster, or tucked under a picture, etc. But typically, I'm not one to use circles center stage on my layout. So when I initially saw this sketch I was ready to take on the challenge and try something "outside of my comfort zone" as they say.  I am SO happy with how it turned out!  I pulled Vicki Boutin's gorgeous Wildflower & Honey line papers and die cuts.  I decided to do something fun with the large circle & use a pie chart cut file I had downloaded before from Lori Whitlock's SVG shop, but hadn't used yet. The 6x8 paper pad from this line worked perfectly for the pie chart since the designs were smaller than the 12x12 papers.
I also added some distressing and machine stitching to my circles, and added some ink splatters to the background.

This layout is also for the Scrap Our Stash Bingo challenge.
This challenge was SO much fun to draw inspiration from the items on the bingo card.  I ended up using quite a few prompts from the squares, but for the challenge I used the second column: Die cut (pie chart I cut with my Cricut), Mist/Ink Sprays (Art Anthology "Warm" mist which is the tan, also black ink), Twine (wrapped around my title die cut), Brads (small metal brads & tiny Tim Holtz metal fastener brads), Cardstock (I used an OLD piece of heavy dark brown cardstock as my base, I honestly can't remember if it was MME or Carta Bella, as I removed the strip years ago LOL).

Thanks for stopping by and checking out the latest sketch from Sketch N Scrap, hope to see you come by and play along with us!
