World Card Making Day Sketch #4 at Sketch N Scrap

The final sketch for World Card Making Day is up on the Sketch N Scrap blog and it's sure to inspire you! This fabulous design was created by Heather Hall:
I really like the layering and banner on this one, it was fun to work with! Here's my take on it:
I decided to use a wood grain banner layered over some watercolor paper that I stamped and colored in using some watercolor pencils & a water brush.  You can never have too many thank you cards on hand,  I always like to have several to choose from when I need one in a pinch!  Come on over to Sketch N Scrap and join us by playing along with this fun sketch, hope to see you there!

World Card Making Day Sketch #3 at Sketch N Scrap

The fun continues over at Sketch N Scrap for World Card Making Day! The third sketch is up on the blog and was created by Lisa Hidy:
I love the split design to this sketch, and the torn edge look.  I used my CTMH distressing tool and some scraps from my stash. The sentiment is from a package of Tim Holtz Idea-Ology chipboard phrases.

Thanks for coming by and hope you decide to play along with us at Sketch N Scrap!

Card Sketch #132 at Sketch N Scrap

Sketch N Scrap's October 20th card challenge is up on the blog & it is a super cute sketch to work with!
I used some rich browns & sunflowers for my card, on a wood grain background:
The sentiment was cut from a sheet of American Crafts patterned paper.  I also used some AC burlap folded over a cute little Tim Holtz hanger where the flower element is on the sketch.  Even though it's in the upper 90's when I made this, it's October & I'm wanting to work with some rustic papers & fall colors!  Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to check out this challenge at Sketch N Scrap, hope to see you there!

Sketch N Scrap Challenge #163

It's October 15th and that means a new sketch challenge has been posted at Sketch N Scrap! I really enjoyed creating this page of my son with a picture of him from 2004
Here is the sketch #163 created by Heather Hall that I used, it's sure to inspire you!
I decided to use one photo and in place of the second I used some layered die cuts & a puffy sticker. For the large circle element I used a Paper Issues free cut file that I converted to an SVG for my Cricut.  I love the little circles on the large circle and decided to place some buttons, puffy stickers & enamel dots sporadically around.  The papers are from my August Flavors of the Month Kit at The Scraproom using Simple Stories Lil' Dude papers, die cuts & puffy stickers.  I also used a Carta Bella 6x6 stencil & texture paste tinted black to place a few "x's" on the background, complementing the patterned paper used in the large banner:
Come join us at Sketch N Scrap to play along with this challenge and the others running this month.  You're sure to be inspired and might win a prize if you play along. Hope to see you there!

Sketches in Thyme Sketch #344

I'm up on the blog at Sketches In Thyme with Sketch #344 by Bev Code!  Here is the beautiful sketch she created:
I periodically will work on my heritage albums, I have one for my father's side and one for my mother's side of the family.  They have been a work in progress for many, many years.  When I saw this sketch, I knew it would be perfect for photos I have for a set of paternal great-grandparents:
I am very fortunate to have so many heritage photos from both sides of my family.  I love that I have a photo of them when they were younger (I believe it was approximately 1880's) and also that they lived long lives and I have a second picture of them older (from the 1940's).  Even more special on this page is that I was able to use 3 buttons that used to be on a dress worn by her.  My mom was kind enough to label a little box of buttons & lace that were given to her by my father's older sister.  She passed them on to me, knowing I'd eventually find a use for them...and I did!  More information will be documented about them in a pocket page next to this page in my album.

Thanks for stopping by, and please jump over to Sketches In Thyme to play along with this sketch and the other fabulous sketch challenges running this month!

World Card Making Day Celebration at Sketch N Scrap

We're celebrating World Card Making Day at Sketch N Scrap this month! There will be a fun, inspirational sketch posted each week. Here's WCMD Sketch #1 created by Lisa Hidy:
I really enjoyed playing with this sketch!  I dug out one of my Sizzix Movers & Shapers dies for the label & wondered why I don't get it out & use it more!?  It's so cute & the perfect size for a card.
I pulled out some Jen Hadfield Warm & Cozy 6x6 papers, and added a little twine & machine stitching.  Such a versatile design, I know I'll use it again & again!  Come on over to Sketch N Scrap and celebrate World Card Making Day with us, hope to see you there!
