Scrap Our Stash July 1 Challenge

I played along with a really fun challenge over at Scrap Our Stash.  It was the perfect opportunity for me to dive into (too much of a pun? LOL) my July Flavors of the Month kit from The Scraproom, too!

The Scrap Our Stash challenge is to draw inspiration from the image of (500) Days of Summer, you also must include a sun on your layout:
I was immediately inspired by all of the photos laying on top of each other.  I mimicked that on my page with my small polaroid style photos.    Simple Stories is one of my favorite manufacturers, and the Hello Summer papers & die cuts from The Scraproom's July kit worked perfectly for my page and this challenge, especially that awesome sun!  The background paper from Carta Bella's Summer Splash line was also included in my July kit.  It reminded me of pool water, and I designed my page at an angle with the hope that it appears to be floating in it.

A dab of acrylic paint mixed into some texture paste, and a Carta Bella stencil, helped draw in the same brilliant blue as the background paper.  Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for looking!

Sketch N Scrap July 15th Challenge - Sketch #157

Another fun sketch challenge at Sketch N Scrap is up on their blog!  I used Heather Hall's 2 photo sketch to create this layout of my son:

It's hard to find scrapbooking products for teenage boys, so when Pinkfresh Studios came out with their Boys Fort line I scooped it up! The background paper is also Pinkfresh Studios, from their Dream On line.  I love the subtle pattern of lined circles, it creates an interesting backdrop without being too distracting.
Another fun piece of flair from A Flair for Buttons worked perfectly on this layout, along with several pieces from the Boys Fort die cut pack.  Check out this sketch challenge and the others currently running at Sketch N Scrap, hope to see you there!

Jumpstart Sketch at the Scraproom Blog AND Case File 257 at CSI!

Hello everyone!  I'd like to share a page with you that I created with DOUBLE inspiration today!  I'm playing along with CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration's Case #257.  I was immediately inspired, which I'll share in more detail below, to finally scrap a couple of photos of my son when he was one day old (he's only 17 1/2 years now, no time like the present to get them on a page ;) LOL

I also checked out the current Jumpstart Sketch challenge at The Scraproom Blog (AMAZING kits, by the way, I just recently joined their kit club)!  It all kind of fell into place morphing these two fabulous challenges into this page, I'm so happy with how it turned out:

First, here's a glimpse at the CSI challenge 257 Case File:
At first glance it was the clouds and the baby that caught my eye. I felt pretty confident I could take on solving this case after seeing The Scheme and reading The Evidence and Testimony.  I took touches of the color scheme and chose papers from Simple Stories' Oh Baby! line.  From The Evidence, I was inspired to use a touch of floral, striped paper, woodgrain in the paper & wood veneer stars, and of course those clouds.  I did have tiny brads out, but opted for the grayish/blue bling instead.   The Testimony inspired me to use a circular journal spot and "adorable" as my title.

The July Jumpstart Sketch Challenge at The Scraproom Blog is SO cute, here's the sketch:
Working with this design was a lot of fun!  For the large circle element, I chose to cut a Paper Issues Starring You circle, then went over it a couple times with my sewing machine. I also tinted some texture paste with some distress ink and used my favorite Art Anthology stencil:
The banners in the top right corner of the sketch were the perfect spot for my clouds, and I decided to use the moon & stars die cut from the Oh Baby! line's Bits & Pieces pack. The title, elephants & journal spot are from the same pack.
Thanks for looking! :)

Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #125

Simple Stories' Oh Baby! line has some adorable papers and their coordinating pack of Bits & Pieces are too cute!  Perfect for creating a special baby shower card:
I used this awesome sketch designed by Heather Hall for Sketch N Scrap.  The angled design was SO fun to work with!
I used my Cricut to cut the fun scallop and also to write the sentiment.  I pulled my sewing machine out to add a touch of pale yellow stitching, too
Be sure to check out this challenge and play along at Sketch N Scrap, hope to see you there!
