Sketches In Thyme Sketch Challenge #360

Hi everybody! There's a new sketch challenge up on the Sketches In Thyme blog that is full of creative possibilities! I had so much fun working with this sketch using some Echo Park A Dogs Tail papers and a super sweet pic of my son and our sweet pup Ozzy from 2008:
And here's the sketch, designed by Shawn Lahr:
For my take on the sketch I decided to use a cardstock sticker in the cluster at the top as my title.

I also switched up the star in the bottom left for a journaling spot, and used a Dylusions stamp around the border.  I hope you're as inspired by this sketch as I was, and that you come play along with us at Sketches In Thyme!

Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #139

Hi everybody! There's a new card sketch up on the Sketch N Scrap blog for all you card makers out there.  I used it to make a birthday card, you can't have too many of those on hand:
And here's the sketch I used, designed by Heather Hall:
Don't you just love those banners?  One of my favorite things to use on a card are banners, they look celebratory for any occasion! For my card, I used some scraps I had from Heidi Swapp's Emerson Lane line.  The sentiment is a CTMH stamp on a Sizzix Movers & Shapers label die cut.  A few sparkles of Kaisercraft gems gave the darker papers a more feminine touch.

Come on over to Sketch N Scrap and play along with us, hope to see you there!

Sketch N Scrap Challenge Sketch #170

Hi everybody! There's a new sketch up on the Sketch N Scrap blog that you're sure to love!  I used it to create this layout with a picture of my son.  This is one of my favorite pictures of him, he's posing on the stump of a tree cut down after Hurricane Irma:
And here's the sketch, designed by Lisa Hidy:
Your first look at this sketch probably doesn't shout "masculine page" at you!  One thing I love about Lisa's sketches are her placement of embellishments, the balance and symmetry.  While I didn't take the Valentine route with it, or use hearts & flowers, I do love how my finished product turned out.  The hearts & flowers turned into chipboard clusters:
The papers are a mixture of Simple Stories & My Mind's Eye, with a random piece of wood grain thrown in. I have a basket full of stuff to use on "guy pages."  Some of it has been in there a while, like the Blue Fern Studios chipboard grids, and the jumbo negative strip from Creative Imaginations.  A few other odds and ends from Tim Holtz, Pinkfresh Studio and My Mind's Eye gave it the finishing touches I was looking for.

I hope this sketch inspires you as much as it did me! Come play along with us at Sketch N Scrap this month, hope to see you there!
