Scrap Our Stash Pick Your Side Challenge March 2019

Hi everyone! Scrap Our Stash has a really fun challenge going where you get to pick what side of a two-page sketch to use.  Here's what I came up with:

And here's the challenge from Scrap Our Stash:
I started off copying the right side of the sketch almost exactly, but I hit a roadblock with my square pictures.  So I used the large base of patterned paper as shown, then situated my pictures in a different grid pattern and pushed my circle element, the view finder, to the right.  I added some touches of chipboard & cardstock stickers from Simple Stories & Echo Park to capture my "crafty" theme & added the required washi tape.  I used two different washi tapes, a pretty teal pattern from Fancy Pants & the black camera washi is from Simple Stories.

This was a really fun challenge!  I also used the Case File Clues from one of CSI's current challenges when picking my papers, colors & elements.  Combining the creative inspiration from both these challenges was SO much fun!  Thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge #495

Hi everyone!  I came across this fun challenge blog called Tuesday Morning Sketches.  Looks like they have weekly (as in every Tuesday morning) card sketch challenges.  This week's sketch really caught my eye so I decided to give it a try!  Here's the sketch:
What a perfect sketch for scraps, love it!  Here's what I came up with:
When I saw the sketch I immediately thought of the Fancy Pants die cut I knew I still had in my stash from their The Bright Side line.  I decided to use some pop dots with it to add dimension, then cut apart another leaf die cut from the same pack and tucked it under at the top and bottom.

I picked some random scraps from my scrap bin to use along with my florals, outlined with my fave white gelly pen & added a CTMH stamped sentiment.  I don't think it looks like it came together as quickly as it did, I'll definitely be using this sketch again!  Thanks for stopping by!

Sketch N Scrap Card Sketch #142

There's a new sketch up on the Sketch N Scrap blog that is sure to inspire the card makers out there:
This sketch, designed by Lisa Hidy, was so fun to use!  I needed a card for a friend who is buying her own home for the first time.  I plan to tuck a Home Goods gift card for her inside this:
As usual for me, this is a hodge podge of different manufacturers--Fancy Pants, Pebbles and Carta Bella.  I love the strip I used to stamp the sentiment, it looks like a blue print sketch of a house.  Do you ever have one of those moments when you're working on a project and you come across something like this that makes you go YES!!! LOL  I love it when that happens :)

Come on over to Sketch N Scrap and play along with us.  There are card and layout sketches, and a terrific prize!  You can't win if you don't play, though, so hope to see you there!

Sketches In Thyme Challenge #364

Hello everyone! I'm up on the blog today at Sketches In Thyme with my take on this week's sketch challenge:
I have had these Simple Stories papers set aside with these pictures for months and haven't gotten to it.  When I saw the Sketches In Thyme sketch I knew it was what I was waiting for! Here's the sketch, designed by Bev Code:
I love using square photos, especially multiple square photos, on my pages.  The pics I had printed were a little large to put all in a row and still leave room for a fun embellishment on the left, so I staggered them.  The strips at the top right and bottom left were the perfect opportunity for some fun clusters, too!

Come on over to Sketches In Thyme & play along with us, hope to see you there!

Sketch N Scrap Challenge #172

Hi everybody! The first day of the month means there is a new layout sketch challenge up at Sketch N Scrap!  Check out this fun sketch, designed by Lisa Hidy:
I used it to create a layout with some family snapshots taken last summer:

Once again, I've got a hodgepodge of manufacturer's on this page!  I really wanted to use up some of the fabulous stickers from the Photoplay Stuck On You line, and I had a striped scrap from the same line to coordinate.  The blue woodgrain is CTMH and I decided to separate my pictures from the light background with a bold black patterned paper, a scrap of Fancy Pants from my scrap box (love using up those scraps, I should do it more!). In place of a third photo I created a cluster with another scrap piece of Simple Stories notebook paper.  I added the scribble circles cut with my Cricut after I had this all up & loaded.  Have you ever been satisfied with something you created until you looked at a picture of it?  It looked too bare....so a few scribble circles later.....I love the finished product!

Hope this sketch inspires you as much as it did me! Come play along with us at Sketch N Scrap, hope to see you there!
